Club Membership Minutes
January 21, 2025

Call the meeting to order: The meeting was called to order at 6:36pm by Co-President Chris Zvara.
Welcome: Chris Zvara acknowledged new member Sylvia Zigler. Patti Ellsworth introduced her first
time guest, Jeanine Brennan.
Approval of the November Membership Minutes: The minutes were approved upon corrections with a
motion by Peg Wepner and a second from Rebecca Cavanaugh. Motion carried.
Treasurers Report: Foundation Treasurer, Angie Meacham, emailed a report to members prior to the
meeting. She noted that $431.86 was received from Tadych Marketplace grocery receipts.
A balance of $6228.44 remains in the Club account. An updated email from Club treasurer, Karen
Gosser, will be sent to all members.
Correspondence:
District 12 Workshops – Members received an email describing free zoom workshops available for
participation.
Peg Wepner received a thank you note from the Door County Library thanking Altrusa of Door
County for our support of their programs.
Altrusa of Door County received a thank you note from the Door County Y thanking us for
donations to their Community Closet.

Committee Reports:
Service – Chairperson, Maureen Fear, reported on the upcoming August Back to School Fair.
She has reworked the parent letter to include permission to photograph a child participating in the
BTSF. Discussion followed. It was decided to create a separate permission sheet for parents to
sign.
The February Membership meeting will be dedicated to preparing the mailings for the Back to
School Fair. These letters need to be returned to Altrusa by the end of March.
It was noted that preliminary participation numbers are down in the Southern Door School District.
Facebook postings will inform parents to contact their individual school if they have not received a
mailing.
Birthday Flowers – Pat Ploor noted that she sent a picture to members of a recipient receiving
her birthday flowers.

Fundraising – Holiday Extravaganza Co-Chairs, Cally Asher and Patti Ellsworth reported on the
successful recent fundraiser.
Positive outcomes were the increased turnout with good food and service from Stone Harbor.
Positive feedback was received regarding the Silent Auction
The greatest surprise was the additional $10.00 individual charge for dessert.
The 2025 Holiday Extravaganza will be held on December 4, 2025 at Stone Harbor. Cally and
Patti agreed to Co-Chair this event.
Service fees will increase from 20% to 23% in 2025.
Meal prices will increase.
A $25.00 per day charge will occur to rent the Donation Room.
They are looking for a new game to replace Plinko.
Online invitations are being explored to save cost and time of mailing invitation to guests.

It is recommended to increase the number of Bag Raffle items.
Bingo – Cally Asher reported that Altrusa of Door County has been asked to participate in Bingo at Stone
Harbor on every Tuesday in March and at Leatham Smith Lodge on Wednesday, April 12. She will send
an email asking members to sign-up to volunteer on these dates.
Door County Candy Fundraiser – Patti Ellsworth attended a zoom informational meeting about this
fundraising opportunity. As the designated recipient, Altrusa of Door County would receive 25% of sales
of all candles sold during a 45 day period. Angie Meacham and Diane Gruener offered to help with this
project.
Wild Tomato – This business has designated Altrusa of Door County to be the recipient of the Signature
Donation Creation pizza for the month of August.

Membership: Laura Voeks and Cheryl Zettel reported Initiation of new members will take place at this
meeting. Laura noted that a Membership Committed meeting will be scheduled in the near future.

Communications: Peg Wepner emailed a report to members prior to the meeting.

Initiation of New Members: Karen Korn was initiated as a new member of Altrusa of Door County.
Sponsor, Maureen Fear, presented Karen with a new member pin.

Old Business:
NFL Draft Fundraiser – Robyn Anderson gave a brief report regarding fundraising opportunities on the
upcoming April NFL Draft. She asked for a member to investigate this. Diane Gruener offered to contact
Destination Door County to see if any opportunities are available for our organization. She will pass this
information on to the Co-Presidents.
MLK Scholarships – Jackie Jeanquart reported that the 2 recipients of scholarships for the 2024/2025 year
are doing well and tuition payments for the second semester have been made.

New Business:
Nominating Committee – Three members have volunteered to serve on this committee. Cathy Royce
made a motion with a second from Robyn Anderson to accept Patti Ellsworth, Lori Anderson, and Sharon
Brecklin on the Nominating Committee. Motion carried. These 3 people will contact members to fill the
various positions available on the Board of Directors.
District Awards – Co-President Pat Ploor is looking for members to apply by email for 3 District 7
awards. These applications are due in March. Cathy Royce volunteered to apply for the Literacy award.
Contact Pat Ploor or Peg Wepner if interested in helping with this project.
The meeting adjourned at 7:59pm upon motion by Maureen Fear with a second from Patti Ellsworth.
